Companionship care that
puts you first

Having someone to talk to, share an activity with, or simply spend time with can make a real difference to someone’s day. Companionship care provides regular social support at home and in the community, helping clients stay connected to the people, places, and activities that matter to them.

At Caring with Dignity, we believe good companionship starts with the right relationship. We take the time to match our clients with care workers they can relate to and build consistency into our care wherever possible. That means getting to know your loved one, their interests, and their personality, rather than simply sending someone to fill a time slot.

Companionship might be a chat over a cup of tea, a game, some music, or a creative activity at home. It could also mean heading out to a social club, visiting the theatre, joining a group, or simply enjoying a change of scenery.

Working alongside trusted partners

Who can benefit from companionship care?

Companionship care can be valuable for anyone who would benefit from more social connection, stimulation, or support to continue doing the things they enjoy. It may be suitable if your loved one:

  • Spends a lot of time alone and would enjoy regular company
  • Have family members who cannot always visit as often as they would like
  • Have lost confidence getting out and about independently
  • Would like someone to accompany them to appointments or activities
  • Want to continue enjoying hobbies and interests outside the home
  • Would benefit from mental and social stimulation
  • Are adjusting to changes in their circumstances or routine
  • Live with dementia and benefit from familiar, engaging activities
  • Would enjoy having someone to talk to and share their day with
  • Want support attending social clubs, groups, entertainment, or community activities

Companionship care isn’t about taking over your loved one’s life. It’s about providing the right support to help them stay involved in it.

More than just company

Companionship can mean different things to different people. That’s why we take the time to understand what our clients enjoy and what they would like to get out of our visits.

Conversation and connection

Enjoy a chat, share stories, and have someone there who takes an interest in your day.

Spend time doing the things you enjoy, whether that’s reading, playing games, listening to music, creating a scrapbook, or trying something new.

Music can be a wonderful way to connect and stimulate memories. We can spend time listening to favourite songs, singing along, or simply enjoying music together.

We can accompany you to social clubs, community groups, appointments, the theatre, and other activities you enjoy.

Activities, conversation, and shared interests can help make your day more engaging and enjoyable.

Consistency matters. We aim to provide familiar care workers wherever possible, helping you build a relationship based on trust and understanding.

Companionship built around your interests

We don’t believe companionship should mean simply sitting in the same room for an hour. Our care workers take the time to find out what makes our clients tick. What did they enjoy doing before? What music do they love? Are there places they would like to visit? Do they enjoy games, crafts, conversation, or getting out into the community?

From creating scrapbooks and playing games to singing, going to the theatre or visiting a social club, we’ll look for ways to make their time together meaningful and enjoyable.

At home

Enjoy conversation, music, games, creative activities, and other interests in the comfort of the client’s own home.

Out and about

Get support to enjoy trips to the theatre, social clubs, community groups, and other activities.

Your interests

We’ll take the time to understand what our clients enjoy and look for activities that suit them.

How our companionship care works

We keep things personal from the very beginning.

1

Step 1: Get to know your loved one

We’ll talk about their interests, personality, routine, and the kind of companionship they’d enjoy.

2

Step 2: Find the right match

We aim to match clients with someone they can relate to, while keeping their care team as consistent as possible.

3

Step 3: Enjoy time together

Their care worker will spend time with them doing the things they enjoy, whether that’s at home or out in the community.

Companionship visits are available from 10am to 10pm, with the length and frequency of support based around the client’s needs.

Answering your companionship care questions

What is companionship care?

Companionship care provides regular social and emotional support, helping clients enjoy company, conversation, and activities while staying connected to their interests and community. At Caring with Dignity, companionship can take place in the home, or involve getting out and about and enjoying activities in the wider community.

Companionship care can benefit anyone who would enjoy more regular company, social connection, or support to continue participating in activities they enjoy. It can be particularly helpful for people who spend a lot of time alone, have lost confidence getting out independently, or have family members who cannot always be there.

Visits can be built around your loved one’s interests. They might enjoy conversation, games, music, singing, or creative activities such as scrapbooking. They can also be supported to get out and about, including attending social clubs, community groups, entertainment, the theatre, and other activities.

We aim to match our clients with people they can relate to. We understand that not everybody naturally gets along with everybody, so taking personality and interests into account is important to us.

Consistency is important throughout our care. We aim to keep care teams as consistent as possible so clients can become familiar with their care workers and develop trusting relationships.

Currently, companionship visits are available from 10am to 10pm. The frequency and length of visits can be discussed based on your loved one’s individual requirements.

Our companionship care is charged at the same rates as our other care services:

  • 30-minute visit: £16
  • 45-minute visit: £18.50
  • One-hour visit: £27

We’ll discuss your loved one’s requirements with you so you can understand what level of support is appropriate.

Companionship care does not normally include personal care. However, personal care can be arranged in advance if required as part of your loved one’s support.

Yes. Companionship care can include support to attend social clubs, community activities, appointments, entertainment, and other outings, helping clients stay connected with the things they enjoy.

Stay connected to the
life you enjoy

Having someone alongside you can make it easier to keep doing the things that matter, whether that’s enjoying your favourite music, meeting friends, getting out into the community, or simply having a good conversation.

At Caring with Dignity, we’ll take the time to understand your loved one, find the right match, and provide companionship that feels personal, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.
